A final message before the festive break.
On 15 December, we formally launched the planning for UWCSEA’s 50th anniversary, which we celebrate next school year. We chose that date as it was the 49th anniversary of the day that former Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew opened the College.
Working together to celebrate this milestone will be an opportunity for us all – students, parents, alumni, staff and governors – to come together, with common purpose, to build on our legacy and to establish a strong foundation and our vision for the future.
Over the last 50 or so years, we have navigated many changes. Milestone anniversaries invariably involve looking back at the past to remind ourselves of our origins, and to consider the mission in which we are still so strongly rooted.
We have the opportunity to honour and celebrate the past, and rekindle and refresh our strategic plans – discussing what is needed to grow and thrive for the next 10, 25 – even 50 years.
Our values and purpose, our achievements all form the narrative of what we stand for, now and in the future. Let’s celebrate this shared experience, as we set the agenda for our future.
Planning for our anniversary year, and the future, sparks joy in me. Whatever you may be planning for this festive season, I hope you too have opportunities to mark the holiday with joy.
