Over recent months, across the College, we have been planning the ways in which we will commemorate our 50th anniversary next academic year. Our planning has been guided by our mission, including what we wish to stand for in our 50th year when it comes to environmental sustainability.
This activity included a recent workshop with colleagues from across both campuses , which I described in my Earth Day post of 22 April. Following the workshop, I was inspired by the work of my colleagues and so many of our UWCSEA students to ask our fellow UWC schools and colleges if they would join us in making a shared commitment to shoulder our responsibilities as a global community. With just six months until the opening of COP26 in Glasgow, it is wonderful to be part of such a global community in making our shared UWC Commitment for COP26. Together, we are making plans to address the threat of climate change, by proactively seeking ways to come together to reaffirm and extend our reach toward our mission – to use education as a force, to create sustainable futures.
